Lessons
Blake is a professional music teacher in the Oakville, ON area that specialized in piano, drums and music production lessons for students at all levels. Blake has over ten years of teaching experience and over 20 years of training. He graduated Humber College in 2015 with an Honours degree in music. House-calls available in the Oakville/Halton/Mississauga area, or at his home studio in Oakville, or over Zoom or Google Meet anywhere in the world.
Piano Lessons
Blake has been teaching piano for over a decade to students from as young as 4 years to advanced students preparing for post-secondary auditions. He likes to have his students learn music specific to their interests. Blake always determines a student's musical preferences, and if they aren't quite sure what they like, he will help them figure it out whether it is jazz, pop, classical or something else. He is dedicated to seeing each of his students excel at music while enjoying themselves in the process. He balances playing by ear, mimicking, and improvisation with theory, reading, and technique. Blake's philosophy is that if the student is bored or feels too much pressure from the teacher, he or she won't want to pursue music so he always keeps it fun and relevant to their personal tastes.
Blake received an Honours Degree in music (piano major) from Humber College, and has taught at teaching studios and as a high school teacher's assistant for several years at Bloor Collegiate Institute in Toronto, ON.
RATES: $50 per 30min* | $60 per 45min | $70 per hr
*30-minute house-calls are location dependent and may not be available depending on travel time
Drum Lessons
Blake has been teaching students for nearly a decade. He specializes in funk, rock, and jazz drumming techniques. He also implements rudimentary exercises and music theory into his lesson plan. All his drum students learn to read and write their own drum charts, play their favourite songs, and develop good time feel.
RATES: $50 per 30min | $60 per 45min | $70 per hr
Music Production Lessons
Along with learning an instrument, Blake also teaches music production. This includes learning to record using microphones and other equipment, as well as learning to use recording software, including how to mix, and master your recordings.
